Seed-borne diseases and poor seed quality can lead to poor produce quality, as well as significant crop losses with affect overall yields. Planting healthy, disease-free seed is a first line of defense against infectious pathogens and environmental stressors.
This is why SunBurst provides testing services to evaluate seed health and quality: To provide the grower with the diagnostic information they need to ensure the maximum possible crop performance and yield.
For more information on how to submit seed samples for testing, call our office at 209-667-4442, or use our online contact form.
Seed Quality Testing
We provide seed health testing services for a variety of vegetable and field crops, using a number of tests to evaluate for quality attributes such as germination percentage.
By being proactive in evaluating the quality of your seed before planting, you give yourself the best possible chance for growing crops with record yields.
Seed Disease Testing
We use a variety of sophisticated diagnostic techniques, including pathogen selective media plates, microscopy, ELISA, real-time PCR, and gene sequencing to identify bacterial, viral, and fungal pathogens that can infect seeds and have a deleterious impact on plants grown from infected seeds.
SunBurst Agri Biotech Solutions LLC is accredited by the National Seed Health System (NSHS).
Seed Diseases We Diagnose
Just a few of the diseases and pathogens we test for in seeds, as well as the methodologies we use for identifying them, include:

Phoma lingam – Grow Out
Xanthomonas campestris pv. carotae – Planting/PCR/Pathogenicity
Alternaria radicina – Grow Out
Acidovorax avenae ssp. citrulli – Planting/Grow out/PCR/ELISA

Mycotoxin Testing
Some plant diseases, such as certain forms of corn ear rot, are caused by fungi that can produce mycotoxins in certain conditions. Mycotoxins can cause serious health effects and even death in people and animals that consume infected crops.
We offer mycotoxin testing services for food and feed, including corn, corn flour, corn gluten meal, corn germ, corn germ meal, wheat, wheat bran, wheat middlings, wheat gluten, whole wheat flour, white wheat flour, sorghum, oats, barley, soybean meal, distiller’s dried grains with solubles (DDGS), milled rice, rough rice, whole rye, and more.
Early detection of mycotoxin is an important means of managing and mitigating infections before they result in complete crop loss.
To help enable the earliest possible detection of mycotoxin contamination in food and animal feed, SunBurst offers the most sensitive protein-based methods of detection currently available on the market.
